Most of these shots are of politicians, but there's one from the hospital hallway and another from the record pressing plant that also appears. All in all, the version linked above has 8 shots included that remain unreleased anywhere else. Now, to save myself from being misleading, most of the screen films were presented as-is (except for the fact that one of the 1974 films has the FX tape from the 1975 version of the song, but this is minimal). And the same was true for Dark Side all of the films were there, completely unchanged, and shown exactly like they were on the tour.Įxcept they weren't. Wish You Were Here didn't present that much of a mystery, it was just your average 1080p transfers of the films, with nothing changed. (Side note - the "Marooned" screen film was also technically shown in "Bootlegging the Bootleggers", but still hasn't gotten an official HD release to this day).Īnyways, another screen films sighting wouldn't be until 2011, when the "Dark Side" and "Wish You Were Here" immersion sets came out. They were presented pretty much as is, save for the circular mask edited over them, and were left pretty much unedited. But not until we get past the DVD release of PULSE in 2006, which included all of the 1994 edits of the screen films. That edit becomes important to the puzzle shortly. Most of this edit is included in the documentary:

Most of the screen films were pretty true to the HQ versions that would be released later, save for Brain Damage/Eclipse. The first official release of these screen films appeared in 2003 on the "Making of TDSOTM" documentary (if you don't count them being shown in DSOT and PULSE). The Floyd had custom films made for each new tour, with the earlier films being directed by Ian Emes, Barry Chattington, and Peter Madek the later films being directed by Storm Thorgerson and Caroline Wright. He would later be used as a mount for lighting and would reprise his role throughout the rest of PF's career, and even made appearances during Gilmour and Waters' solo tours. Screen first made his appearance in 1974, and showed various films accompanying the Dark Side set of those concerts. To state a brief history of the screen films, basically, all you need to know is that Mr. You also have a long read ahead of you, so if you aren't into this, maybe this isn't the thread for you. As you can tell by the title, this is going to be no different. Many of you know that I like to delve into the less talked about topics in PF's history.
